About the event

Step back in time for an evening of rich history, fine wine, and delectable desserts as we uncover the story of North America’s first military industrial site—Hunter’s Iron Works. Located just two miles downstream from our Celebrate homes, this historic site played a pivotal role in the American Revolution, producing nearly 85% of the weapons used by the colonial forces.

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, a national initiative is underway to preserve and interpret Hunter’s Iron Works for future generations. Join historian Jerrilynn MacGregor and key preservation team members as they share insights into this remarkable site and the ambitious plans for its grand reopening in the summer of 2026.

A Williamsburg historian once noted, “Without Hunter’s Iron Works, the United States may not have emerged.” This evening is your chance to learn why this site was so crucial to America’s fight for independence…
